When I found out Alex and Brandon got engaged (through the lovely world of social media of course), I turned to my husband and told him how I really hoped they would get in touch with me about photographing their wedding. They are the cutest couple and I knew it would be incredibly beautiful. Well sure enough a month or so later I got a message from Alex and I couldnt have been more excited! Their wedding date was my last available weekend for next october and I was thrilled to be putting their names in my calendar for the upcoming year! I got to hear some of the plans they have for the big day and now I am even more anxious for Alex and Brandon's wedding to arrive.
I loved hearing how Brandon proposed to Alex. It was a full evening of events that ended with the most perfect proposal. Being that it was their four year anniversary, Brandon decided to take Alex on a trip down memory lane. They started at Fagers Island which is where they first met, then moved on to OC Wasabi where Alex and Brandon had their very first date. After that they headed to the Lazy Lizzard for a few drinks where Alex was surprised to see all of her family. From here they went to Jeff Auxer's glass studio in Downtown Berlin. Jeff is one of Brandon's best friends and this was also where they had one of their first dates. Here they met all of Brandon's family and after some time at the studio, Brandon took Alex outside where a Horse and Carriage was waiting for them to go for a ride around town. The carriage ended up at the Stephen Decatur Park where Brandon and Alex took a walk on the nature trail. It was here that Alex came across a painting laying in the grass. It was an illustration of a stick figure guy proposing to a girl. (Side note: Alex is an incredible painter!) By the time Alex turned around to Brandon he was already on one knee. After the initial shock, she of course said yes! When they arrived by carriage back to the Atlantic Hotel, both of their families were awaiting their arrival with champagne and ready to celebrate their engagement!
So what better place to have their engagement photos then in Downtown Berlin, where part of their proposal story took place. Brandon and Alex love this town and hope to be living here in the near future. When we met last week for their engagement shoot we had to reschedule for the early afternoon in order to dodge a big storm that was coming through later that day. Thankfully we had no rain during our shoot but the storm made itself present with very strong and gusty winds! I always feel bad for my couples during a cold engagement shoot because unlike them, I get to bundle up and stay warm behind my camera! On the contrary, a chilly day always keeps them close and snuggled up for the shoot and the wind in the hair is never a bad thing in my book!
Brandon and Alex, thank you so much for spending the afternoon with me. You two are so perfect for each other and I can't wait to document you both again as husband and wife!
